4/22 EARTH DAY!

Celebrating Earth Day

Earth Day Network’s Education Network:
The  award-winning Educators’ Network has  over 300 standards-based lessons, school greening tips, grants for teachers and more!  Visit the website www.earthday.org/earthdaycurriculum for lesson plans about the history of the environmental movement and www.earthdaytv.net to view and screen videos for students.

Chemists Celebrate Earth Day (CCED)
CCED 2011 salutes the International Year of Chemistry (IYC), and this year’s theme is “Energy: It’s Everywhere.” The theme will introduce the topic of alternative energy as a key aspect of sustainability. The American Chemical Society (ACS) is developing outreach materials supporting IYC’s four quarterly themes: environment, energy, materials, and health, says ACS Membership Specialist Clinton Harris. The ACS publication Celebrating Chemistry, to be available in print and online, will contain articles, hands-on activities, puzzles/games, and an interview featuring chemists discussing their careers.

Activities to Celebrate Earth Day
In honor of Earth Day, Education World offers two dozen classroom activities for use across the grades. Help keep Earth Day alive for another generation with these cross-curriculum activities.
