2/22 Irwin, Hertz, Sightseer’s Guide to Engineering

Steve Irwin born (1962)
Steve Irwin, known as the Crocodile Hunter, was born on February 22, 1962.  Irwin was a wildlife expert that co-owned and operated the Australia Zoo.  He became a television personality to promote his conservation work before being killed by a sting ray barb during filming in the Great Barrier reef in 2006.

Heinrich Hertz born (1857)
Heinrich Hertz was a physicist who demonstrated the existence of electromagnetic waves.  His work lead the way for the invention of radio and television transmitters and receivers.
